Discover a Rainbow of delicious Superfoods at Indigo Age Cafe – Vancouver vegan restaurant.

Indigo Age Cafe is known as Vancouver vegan restaurant with both cooked and raw option on the menu. But what most people don’t realize is that our menu is like the “Pandora’s Box” for superfoods!

Superfoods are not only good for you, but they also provide such good value – because the amount of nutrition that you get for what you pay is actually extraordinary! Our passion for nutrition is reflected in the choice of amazing recipes created by the pioneers and masters of plant-based foods, such as Matthew Kenney, David Wolfe and even,  the upgrade-expert,Bulletproof Exec – Dave Asprey.

Just because a restaurant is vegetarian, it doesn’t necessarily mean you get optimum nutrition. Not  all vegan restaurants offer a variety of superfoods. At Indigo Age Cafe, we believe a colourful diet is a healthy diet, including the blended beverages. You can try to make these at home, but it will probably cost you more and taste not as good.

Top 3 favourite superfood-rich elixirs with bio-available, wholesome nutrition designed to “pick you up” and nourish you through the day:Vancouver vegan restaurant - Super drink

This Smoothie is packed with superfood ingredients, and was created by David Wolfe when he published his first book on Superfoods; hence it is called the “Super Drink”

This energy-boosting beverage is full of antioxidants, (thanks to organic pomegranate juice) low-glycemic because it is sweetened with dates, (also rich in minerals) and it has an organic brew of Yerba mate!

This is the one ingredient we want to emphasize because many people need a “clean boost of energy in the afternoon” and we believe this drink will do just that! Yerba mate is both moon and energy enhancing;

in fact it was called “the drink of the gods” by many indigenous South Americans and later “the green gold of the Indios” by European settlers.

Yerba mate is a traditional South American brew that’s been said to offer the “strength of coffee, the health benefits of tea, and the euphoria of chocolate” all in one beverage. However some people do not enjoy its taste, so in our Super Drink the flavour is well balanced!Vancouver vegan restaurant - Indigo blue kefir

Have you tried our Indigo Age Kefir yet? This is an original idea of the founder and Chief of Creativity at the Vancouver vegan restaurant – Lovena.

Made with our in-house fermented coconut water with the amazing Blue Majik (our best kept secret and indigo pigment in desserts!)

For all of your superfood lovers and enthusiasts out there, it really doesn’t get better than this powerhouse combination! Here’s why…

We know the benefits of coconut water, but once it is fermented, it turns into a healing super tonic for your digestive health, significantly increasing “the good bacteria” to help offset “trouble-causing” bacteria as well as the very common symptoms of candida.

Do you get the winter blues? The nutritionists at Sakara Life claim that “If you’re feeling sad, let Blue Majik be your therapist!” (We sure can use this in our rainy days in Vancouver, right?)

Blue Majik powder is made from blue green algae, which is similar to chlorella, in that it is able to absorb toxins (such as mercury and fluoride) and assist in swiftly removing them from your body. Due to the potent concentration of healthy omega 3’s and omega 6’s, Blue Majik regulates mental clarity and balances hormones, and therefore moods. Blue Majik also contains a pretty little molecule called phenylethylamine (aka, PEA), which is naturally produced by the brain to be responsible for pleasure and an encompassing awareness.

Another unique quality of Blue Majik is that more than any other food, it has been proven to increase immune cell migration, which is the process of getting healthy cells to where they need to be and killing off all cancerous, or just generally toxic ones. “Blue Majik was the food of the past, and today, it is the food of the future! As we enter a new season, our bodies crave warm fluids naturally; furthermore because of the dampness of the west coast, oily foods help to balance and keep our bodies warm and strong.

If you got the winter chills, this beverage will make all the difference, and yes – the superfood in the spotlight here is – organic coffee.

Real coffee is very high in anti-oxidants, higher than wild blueberries and depending on the quality, even higher than Goji Berries. Organic coffee doesn’t contain any ochratoxins or fungal excipients like mainstream coffee does.

“It all starts with the beans. Clean coffee beans give you the mental edge and energy you need to perform.” – says Dave Asprey, the formulator of the Bulletproof exec.

Bulletproof Coffee is a branded coffee drink consisting of “upgraded” black coffee blended with grass-fed butter and “Brain Octane oil”, an 8-carbon fraction of medium-chain triglyceride oil. The recipe was created by Dave Asprey in 2009. Asprey claims that the drink boosts cognitive performance and weight loss, and it has been consumed by sportspeople and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. At Indigo Age Cafe – Vancouver vegan restaurant, we do not use grass-fed butter but we stick to high quality coconut oil, and let’s just pause for a moment here because coconut is the ultimate superfood!

To date, there are over 1,500 studies proving coconut oil to be one of the healthiest foods on the planet. Coconut oil benefits and uses go beyond what most people realize; here are a few worth highlighting:

Easy to digest – Not readily stored as fat – anti-microbial and anti-fungal – allowing easier cell permeability for immediate energy – processed by the liver, which means that they are immediately converted to energy instead of being stored as fat!

In closing, if you love coffee, source the bet quality you can find! That’s why we only serve organic beans and craft every cup with the pour over technique. Our coffee beverages can be sweetened with low-glycemic coconut nectar, which is also high in minerals! Served with almond mylk*

Did you know the greatest geniuses were avid coffee drinkers?

Albert Einstein and Steve Jobs drank coffee. Beethoven counted 60 beans per cup and always made his own coffee! Voltaire was a true “coffee-junkie”; he was known to drink 50 cups of coffee per day!
